Exigent Networks completes major upgrade for GlaxoSmithKline
Exigent Networks secured the deal, to completely revamp the entire local
area network because of the company’s excellent existing working
relationship with GlaxoSmithKline.
GlaxoSmithKline is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the
world and has a significant presence in Dungarvan, where it produces
market-leading oral care and over the counter medicines.
“Our facilities have a reputation for excellence, delivering quality
products to our consumers and we demand the same high standards from our
suppliers,” said Brian Fahy, IT Manager, GlaxoSmithKline. “Exigent
Networks successfully won and delivered a number of projects for us
using the very latest technology and were a natural choice when it came
to carrying out this major upgrade, which they delivered on time and on
budget.”
Exigent Networks, which offers its clients a flexible portfolio of fully
integrated connectivity products and services, including Network and
Security Infrastructure, IP telephony, Microwave Wireless, Network and
Systems management and Related Services, has been growing rapidly and
currently employs 15 people, turning over €2 million.
“Because we are multi-deployment experts, we are able to deliver
complete, enterprise scale initiatives on budget and on time,” said
Cillian McCarthy, Sales Director of Exigent Networks. “Part of the brief
on this project was to keep down-time to a minimum, so we delivered the
project during the plant shut-down period to suit the needs of the
business. The newly installed infrastructure will provide multiple 10
Gigabit resilient connections across the Local Area Network giving GSK a
platform for implementing additional IP services such as IP Telephony,
wireless mobility and wireless logistics,” he said.
Exigent Networks is currently providing network integration services to a
range of clients in Ireland and tendered successfully for the ongoing
maintenance of Cork County Council's wireless WAN, providing cover for
the entire licensed and unlicensed radio network infrastructure
consisting of over 140 radio links. Other recently completed contracts
include projects for Waterford City Council, Fingal County Council and
the recently opened New Cork Hospital.
